Soft launch
The stat line is a query
Schemer is a basketball stats and analysis site: the NBA first, with NCAA men's basketball in support. It is in its soft launch. The methods are public today; the data pages open in stages, each one when its data is cleared for public display.
What Schemer is
- Views you compose. Any split, any filter, any window, instead of one fixed table per page.
- One player, every level. A single identity that follows a player from college into the pros.
- Models beside the numbers. Ratings, projections, win probability and expected margin, run on the same cleaned data as the raw stats and published next to them.
- Cleaner context. Minutes in decided games can be set aside, and rates read per possession, so a number reflects the game it came from.
How the numbers work
Every number comes with its method and its as_of date. A method page states the definition, the formula and the cohort a percentile is computed within, and every model output names the version that produced it.
The data is a daily batch: one build a night, after the day's games are final. Nothing on Schemer updates during a game, by design. The site is for working through the numbers, not for watching them move.
